Contemporary abstract artist painting nature’s quiet light — desert, forest, and garden — and women, in the abstract.

I paint nature’s quiet light — the hour when the cacti seem to glow, when a monsoon breaks over the mountains, when a garden holds its breath at dusk — and I paint women the same way: from the inside out, in color, gesture, and feeling.

My work has been featured in British Vogue (2023), exhibited with Agora Gallery in New York, and commissioned publicly — including Where We Walk, a twelve-foot sculpture for the City of Scottsdale covered by Phoenix Home & Garden.

I am the founder of Charlene Falk Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona. Every original painting has found its collector. The work lives on as museum-quality prints, private commissions, and custom wallpaper.

Why I Paint

It began with loss.

I began painting twenty-eight years ago, as a way to heal from the deep loss of my daughter. What I didn’t expect was what the painting would give back to me — that surrounding myself with color and beauty, day after day, would slowly mend what grief had broken.

That is what my work has been about ever since: the healing power of beauty itself. Art doesn’t just hold our sorrow; it transforms it into light.

Nature is my departure point. I study its most intricate details and answer in abstract form. I prepare each painting with care, but once I begin, intuition takes over completely — I follow each mark where it leads.

When you stand before one of my paintings, I want you to feel that light too — and carry a little of its healing with you.
